001 ☆ Voice/Action for New Bark

[The whole world felt like a blur. A moment ago, she was fleeing for her life. Her two best friends had vanished in front of her eyes. Monsters were descending upon her. She was worried that she would be joining them in the darkness soon.

Suddenly, she's in a house. Some woman she's never met is claiming to be her mother. She hands her some weird device she's never seen before, as well as a backpack and a strange-looking ball, before shoving her outside.

It's raining.

She's barely had time to process all of this, but her body instinctively runs under a nearby tree for shelter. Would she be safe here, or is this a trap? This is a world unlike anything she's seen before. Her hand reaches for the device she was just given. Apparently it worked like some kind of radio. She contemplates, for a moment, if she should use it. She might be able to find her friends if she used it, but she might just help the heartless find her. She clicks it on.]

Donald? Goofy?

...

Sora?! Riku?! [They're not here, Kairi. You know that. Sora vanished. Riku was possessed by the darkness. Still, some part of her needed to call out their names.]

Is anybody out there? I need to find my friends!

[There's a flash of silver hair before the PokéGear clatters to the ground, giving a nice shot of some sneakers and the pantlegs of some jeans. A gloved hand reaches down and fumbles for the 'Gear, showing that same silver hair again, and a vaugely familiar face... ignoring the fact that Riku's a nineteen year old now.

He gives the camera a wide-eyed look for a few seconds, looking off to the side. Running a hand through his hair, he tries to formulate words.

Right, he can do this.]

Hang in there, okay, Kairi? We'll be there in a few minutes.

[Not real. You can't be. It's a trap. A heartless that looks like him, maybe. They couldn't even make a convincing replica, either.

She stares back at the strange-looking Riku for a minute, her lip quivering slightly. Even if he was fake, it was good to see his face again. She then turns the gear off.

That Riku said "we" were coming. She would only imagine that meant more heartless. She runs off from under the tree. She would have to find a place to hide.]

[At this point, Riku's pulled a raincoat on rather unevenly, and he's bolting through the hall. Kairi's lack of response is a bit alarming, so he'll shoot another message.]

Kairi? Hey, c'mon! Answer me! This isn't like you...

[Darn it. He'd better grab Sora ASAP so they can bolt over there.]

[At first, what the voice is saying is irrelevant to Ilya. All that's important is the voice itself, and who it sounds like, and what it must mean...]

[She stops. She stares at the gear. Her expression drops, and she winds up frowning coldly into it.]

No, you're not... Nevermind.

[She blinks.]

I'm sorry? Are you looking for someone?

[She sighs, trying to decide how best to explain this.]

Yes, and no. When I heard your voice I thought you were someone I knew.

[ Did this kid seriously just say the name of two cartoon characters? It really shouldn't have been weird, since Snake was in a Pokemon world, but when they were cartoon characters he knew of, well, that was just weird.

When you say Donald and Goofy, is that some sort of code to find out if you're dreaming or are you actually asking about Donald Duck and Goofy?

They're not exactly unknown. Seen 'em on cartoons and lunchboxes when I was a kid. They're still pretty popular with kids today, too... I mean, I still see merchandise with them on it.

[She's interrupted by a gurgle, which she quiets by saying "no, not you, Donald" Maka's trying to process the other names. They're all ones she's heard before and, indeed, if this girl is saying them that must mean--]

Are you a friend of Sora and Riku's? Are you from their world?

[Yes people are out here, Kairi, it seems they're more interested in asking you questions than answering.]
